More details
AusVoc worked with Dr Clifford Smith, the original author of the first and second editions, to advocate and plan for a fully revised third edition of this textbook, which had been renowned for 30 years in PNG for the teaching and practice of primary health care in rural and remote areas. The next stage was to collaborate with his associates and wide-ranging stakeholders throughout the health sector in Papua New Guinea to develop a complete revision of the manual, with 96 new chapters of public health and clinical health content across the full range of topics that Community Health Workers face in rural and remote practice in PNG. To date, 15,000 copies of the textbook have been printed for students and CHWs, and the distribution phase of the project has commenced.
